MBKN’s 2nd Annual Men of Color Who Teach Happy Hour was designed to empower and equip male educators of color to fellowship as well as pinpoint diverse individuals in Newark who are able and willing to participate in mentorship and programming initiatives. Chad served as co-host for this Happy Hour.
On June 29, 2019, The Foundation held “The 1st Annual Chad Family Reunion”; a cookout celebrating former Chad students, parents, and faculty. The event, which was hosted on the premises of the old Chad School at 308 South 9th Street, was attended by well over 100 people.
The Chad School Foundation held its 2019 Chad Scholars Awards before a packed house of nearly 200 supporters on May 22nd at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark. The theme for this year was, “Cultivating Community-Driven Leadership". Six (6) Newark-area students received a $10,000 scholarship to support their college expenses, and six (6) others also received $2000 scholarships towards their book expenses. Several outstanding individuals were also honored for their service in the city of Newark.
The 2019 Chad Scholars along with Leaders Of The 21st Century (LOT21C) fellows came together for a trip to NYC for a tour and day of educational activities at The NYC Facebook Headquarters. They got to speak with Facebook employees, as well as tour the offices of both Facebook and Instagram.
